Ensopando el blog!

El 20 de septiembre pasado publique una entrada donde informaba que había aprobado el IELTS. Al final de dicha entrada deje una pequeña notilla donde dije que en un futuro escribiría acerca de como aprendí Inglés... Bueno, si lo he estado haciendo, pero en otro servicio blog que te facilita la gente de VEA (mi agente migratorio), sin embargo, entiendo que no es lo mismo porque mucha gente no tiene acceso a esa red social.

El porque lo hice en aquel blog y no en este es que desde hace tiempo estaba buscando una excusa para empezar un nuevo blog exclusivamente en Inglés y que mejor tema que el propio Inglés o el como aprender inglés para ser mas exacto. Además la gente de VEA te ponía el software de blog a tu disposición y te daba la oportunidad de entablar amistades con otros miembros de esa red que, por supuesto, tienen metas similares a las tuyas. De hecho, ya estoy intercambiando emails con una persona (solo en inglés) lo cual me ha dado la oportunidad de mejorar bastante.

Volviendo al tema, una amiga lectora fue muy amable en recordarme mi promesa y me puso en 3 y dos porque ahora tenía que optar entre o traducir todas aquellas entradas al español (flojeraaaaa) o copiar y pegarlas en este blog. Lo cual crearía una sopa muy grande entre entradas en Inglés y entradas en español. Y, por alguna razón, nunca me ha gustado mucho mezclar los dos idiomas.

Después de pensarlo mucho opte por la sopa (opción 2), así que a partir de hoy creo una nueva etiqueta Inglés donde voy a comentar acerca de como aprendí el idioma y cualquier otra cosa que se me ocurra sobre él. Yo se que ha muchos no les va a gustar el "cualquier otra cosa" y que lo van a asociar con muchos de mis otras entradas en las cuales la falta de contenido o por lo menos ideas principales brilla por su ausencia, pero como dijo un amigo mio... En tu blog para poder llegar a la información importante hay que pasar por horas de pura habladera de paja.

Bueno, así que aquí va mi primera entrada en Inglés, o mas bien mitad español y mitad inglés o spanglish o... mejor me callo.

El título es: "About how I got my actual English Level!"

For those who are about to sit for the IELTS knowing how other learnt English is very important so in this post I want to tell you guys how I achieved my actual level.

Well, it hasn't been a short process. It all started when I went to the "States" for about 8 months. That was about 8 years ago, although I don't remember the exact date. In those 8 month I was living with a Venezuelan family during the first 4 moths. So I didn't learn a thing. After that I decided to take my chances on my own and thas was when my English Learnin Process really began... The hardest part about leraning English is the very beggining in those last 4 month I broke through that wall and learn the most difficult thing about English...The basics. In terms of IELTS I could say that I was an overall 3, but the foundations were already laid.

So how did I got my actual level (7.5 in IELTS). I basically used 2 tools. The first of them was watching T.V. in English without the spanish subtitles and with the Close Caption Feature turned on (Its a feature designed for deaf people which most tv bring now a days) . What this does is it synchronizes in your mind the way a word is pronounce (becasuse you hear it) and the way it is spelled (because you read it). I didn't do this voluntarily, but because the satelite antenna in the building were I lived only picked the U.S versions of the U.S. channels (without the subtitles). I did that for 2 years until I moved from the building and even though I wasn't trying to improved my English level It went to about 6 or 6.5 in the IELTS scale.

Finally, when I decided to escape from this country I started to take English more seriously and since I love reading I kept doing that only in a different language. I also started to read out loud and it improved my pronunciation which was my weaker point a lot. (the downside is that you actually have to know how a word its pronunciated). I read everything from accounting books to novels and my English level got to its actual level. I did this ( and I still do it) for about a year before sitting for the IELTS.

And this is pretty much the story about how I learned English. If you find any mistakes in these lines, please let me know

Por cierto, no hago correcciones ortográficas sobre la sección de Inglés para que se hagan una mejor idea mi nivel y por supuesto que si le paso un corrector ortográfico a la parte en español porque da pena.
